Title: They were the authentic vespa riders in Rome (Bronze Sculpture, Miniature Collection)
Blue Patina
Description:
This authentic bronze sculpture titled 'They were the authentic vespa riders in Rome' by artists Gillie and Marc has been meticulously crafted in bronze. It features Gillie and Marc's famous Dogman and Rabbitwoman on a a beautiful Italian vespa and comes in a limited-edition series of only 100.
When Gillie and Marc visited Rome together they become obsessed with watching the vespa riders, known locally as the Motorini. Rome has the highest number of registered scooters of any city in the world. In the Eternal City, scooters are used by people in all walks of life, from teenagers sporting the latest fashion garments to business people wearing suits. The artists joined in the fun too and loved zipping around Rome on their rented vespa. They have a soft spot for vespas because it’s an excuse to hold on tightly to one another and when they returned to Sydney they bought a vespa for themselves. The Motorini was also inspiration behind Gillie and Marc’s life-sized sculpture 'It Takes Two'. Since the artwork’s installation in Sydney’s trendy inner-city suburb, Paddington, it has been photographed countless times with visitors even dressing up Dogman and Rabbitwoman. This collection 'They were the authentic vespa riders of Rome' is modelled on 'It Takes Two'. The artists have added a colourful patina to make this 9 in-tall sculpture really pop.
This authentic bronze sculpture has been crafted by artistic duo - Gillie and Marc, who are New York and Sydney-based contemporary artists that collaborate to create artworks as one. The artists are best known for their iconic, pop art characters 'Dogman and Rabbitwoman' (the human and animal hybrids), who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soulmates, proving everything is possible through love.
As well as their original modern artworks, authentic bronze sculptures and wall art prints, Gillie and Marc have become loved for their famous and monumental public artworks. Examples can be seen in New York, London and Sydney. Garnering almost 30 prestigious awards for their work over the last 20 years throughout the USA, Australia, France, UK and Italy, Gillie and Marc's work continues to be admired and valued across the globe… and maybe in your home, too!
